Louie Anderson tickets

Louispalooza is only a few days away! Louie Anderson tickets sold like hot cakes this holiday season. There are very few Northrop Auditorium tickets left for Louie's not one, but TWO holiday shows on January 2nd, 2010.

As I have blogged before Louis Anderson always performs two shows around New years Day, which ever date is closer to a weekend. This year January 2nd is on a Saturday allowing Louis Anderson and friends to have a 5pm and 8:30pm show.

Very limited Northrop Auditorium tickets are available for both Louie Anderson shows. Plan ahead if you think you want to bring in the 2nd day of the new year with Louie. You don't want to be left outside in the cold and miss all of the laughs!

Louie Anderson - two performances - one day only - Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 5pm and 8:30pm - with special guests Scott Hansen and Mary Mack!

Mariah Carey tickets

Pop songstress and superstar Mariah Carey has just announced a show at the Northrop Auditorium on February 16th, 2010. This show comes as a surprise to Mariah Carey fans because in her 20 year career she has only embarked on 3 tours. Considering her vast catalog of hit pop songs that is not a lot of road time!

Northrop Auditorium tickets onsale dates and times have not been announced yet, nor has the opening act been announced. Perhaps it will be her actor hubby Nick Cannon?! It could be a supergroup tour of sorts!

Although no information about Mariah Carey at Northrop Auditorium has been announced, I am sure Northrop Auditorium tickets will not be cheap, I can see Mariah Carey having an extremely high face value for her premium seats. And it is possible that the show will sell out seeing as she does not tour frequently - making her shows a big deal!

Come on, don't you want to see "Emotions" live? Just a little ....

Stay tuned for onsale dates and times!

The Univerity of Minnesota will not know what to do with itself this June - it is about to be rocked like it has never been rocked before. And no, I am not talking about a Northrop Auditorium concert, I am talking about the world's biggest living rock band, U2, playing a show at TCF Ban Stadium on Sunday, June 27th.

Zac Brown Tickets Now Available

New show announced at the Northrop! This show is a little out of character for the Northrop - the Zac Brown Band is bringing a whole lot of country to the U of MN campus this winter. It will be tough for Minneapolis concert goers to choose between Zac Brown and Bryan Adams - both concerts are taking place on the same night.

Northrop Auditorium tickets
are on sale now for the show on December 5th.

The Zac Brown Band is on tour in support of their album "The Foundation" which was released in 2008. They are known for their songs, "Chicken Fried", "Whatever It Is" and "Toes."

I am not much of a country fan so i might be sitting this one out!

Louis Anderson's Annual Holiday Show

Louis Anderson has announced his annual holiday season show at the Northrop Auditorium. Usually the show falls on New Year's Eve, however, the show this year will be on January 2nd. If you were planning on bringing in another New Year with good ol' Louis at least you have enough notice to find other plans.

If you are looking for a time to see Louis Anderson before then I believe he has a show coming up very soon at Treasure Island Casino.

Louis Anderson, a native of Minnesota from Minneapolis was raised in St. Paul - this year's New Years Eve show (well, almost) is his 4th year of performing this annual event. You may know Louis Anderson from his ongoing Comedy Stint in Las Vegas which has kept him busy. Before Vegas, Louis Anderson had the Louis Anderson cartoon show and very briefly hosted the revival of Family Feud - I love that show!

Northrop Auditorium tickets for Louis Anderson went on sale last week and they are now available. Louis Anderson tickets will sell out for this show, a lot of his fans and family look forward to this yearly event.

Recent Show at the Northrop

Did anyone find Northrop Auditorium tickets for the Michael Franti show last weekend? I was so bummed that I missed it - I couldn't find any last minute. If you went did you happen to write down the set list? I have been trying to find it online on various blogs, I thought for sure the one that would have it would be the Star Tribune music blog that good ol' Riemenschneider (SP?!) manages, but to no avail - I haven't been able to find anything.

I am curious as to how the show went!

Next up it looks like Steely Dan is the big show at the Northrop Auditorium. Northrop Auditorium tickets are on sale now for Steely Dan - don't wait until the last minute like I did with Michael Franti and be stuck wishing that you had bought your tickets earlier.

Hopefully Michael Franti will be back soon!

I probably won't be making it to Steely Dan this November, it's a little too expensive for my pocket book, but if you're going I would love to hear about it.

Think Fast Think Steely

Steely Dan has just announced a show at the Northrop Auditorium for a concert this fall. Steely Dan is continuing its special "Classic Album (Plus)" nights on the fall trek, during which Becker and Fagen will perform one of their past studio albums in its entirety, along with selections from throughout the group's career. On the fall outing, the band will offer various full-album performances of 'Aja' or 'The Royal Scam'- Minneapolis's show will showcase "Aja" in its entirety.

In addition to playing "Aja" I am sure they will be playing other selections from their extensive catalog. Northrop Auditorium tickets are on sale now, Steely Dan tickets went on sale last weekend.

Great seats are still available!

Great New Show Just Announced!

"I say Hey I be gone today
But I be back around the way"

For weeks I had this song stuck in my head and had absolutely no idea who it was singing. Little did I know that is was this band called Michael Franti and Spearhead. They were here a few months ago at the Pantages Theater, but I hadn't put these two pieces of information together yet. But that is a-ok because Michael Franti and Spearhead are coming back to Minneapolis to play a show in September! Finally! A new concert announcement at the Northrop Auditiorium - and for such a great band! Big. Excitement.

Northrop Auditorium tickets are on sale now for Michael Franti and Spearhead, actually Northrop Auditorium tickets for this show went on sale last week - I'm getting a little behind here.

Even if you are still not sure who I am talking about and asking "Who is this Michael Franti?" all you need to do is turn it on your radio to KDWB and you will hear "Say Hey" - it's on heavy rotation right now. It's a great, fun summer song!

See you at the show!

Strolling Through the Northrop

I was walking through campus the other day and was wondering when a concert was going to roll through town at the Northrop again. There have been some major acts there this past couple of years: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Van Morrison, and new acts like the Killers and John Legend. Northrop Auditorium tickets for all of those shows were very difficult commodities. I really think I am believing the rumor mill on this one that the Northrop is getting some work done on it this summer - simply because I think it is a little weird that there is not one single touring act that is stopping there this summer. I know that it is the summer and the University is on summer break so staffing may be a little more difficult, but come on, it's such a wonderful facility and it holds so many people.

Walking through campus is a lot of fun. They really take good care of the grounds. I walked through Stadium Village through the mall area up to Northrop. I made a stop my the new science building (it's about time they tore that old one down!) and then made my way to Dinkeytown passing good ol Jones Hall, where I spent a lot of my time in college. I stopped in and had a beer at Blarneys, simply because I could not have one at the Dinkeytowner, may it rest in peace!

Lets think about this - think of all the past acts at the Northrop - think of you would like to come back the most? Let me know!

Looking for something free and cheap to do this summer?

If you are like a lot of people in this economy, finding something cheap do to can be a struggle sometimes. Movies get expensive, concerts can break the bank, and it all gets to be over whelming sometimes. But the Northrop is putting on a series of concerts all summer that are FREE! Northrop Auditorium tickets are not needed for this event. All of the concerts are outside in the courtyard, which as you may know over looks the mall area on the University of Minnesota campus. In case of rain, however, the concert will be moved inside.
June 15th with the New Primitives will be the official kick off party for the summer concert series. This particular date will feature complimentary refreshments, Jimmy Johns and ice cream (however, quantities are limited).
Here are a list of the upcoming free Northrop Auditorium shows in June:
11 Michael Hauser and A Touch of Spain
15 New Primitives
16 France Has the Bomb
17 Summit Ave.
18 Kristoff Krane
19 De Visa Musical Troupe
22 Café Accordion
23 Lynhurst
24 Charanga Tropical
25 The New Music Machine
29 Tony Hauser and the Brasilnutz
30 The Front Porch Swingin’ Liquor Pigs

The shows start at noon and continue until 1pm. The festival celebrates Northrop Auditorium's 55th Anniversary. Shows go through the end of July and they are all F-R-E-E!!

Graduations in full swing at the Northrop!

For the first time ever last week I went to the Northrop Auditorium! It was not for a concert so there were no Northrop Auditorium tickets needed for this event. I was there for the University of Minnesota's Nursing School graduation. The ceremony was really nice, it was nice to experience an college graduation seeing as I chose not to attend my own! The School of Nursing only had about 160 graduates whereas the College of Liberal Arts that I graduated from usually has about double or triple that.

The speaker that they had was really cool. She was a retired nurse for the army and had her own foundation that she tuns in her retirement. She was a southern woman that simply told it to you how it was, which I admire. There was no sugar coating of our economic times, she simply told the graduates that they had to get out there and make the best of it. I thought the speech was fantastic!

There are a lot of events that take place at the Northrop Auditorium that are not concerts that you will need Northrop auditorium tickets for. For example, there will be a Holistic Health & Healing Summer Institute seminar June 15th thru 19th that you will need admission tickets for.

Other than that it is a slow summer for Northrop. The person sitting next to me at the graduation mentioned that the Northrop Auditorium will be closed for renovations next year, something I had not heard before. I am going to go and Google News search that soon to get some more information!

see you around campus!

Did anyone go to Flight of the Conchords?

I just read the review of Flight of the Conchords show at the Northrop and I kind of wish that I would have went! I have only seen a few of the shows and they are obviously very funny, but I read that they came out in cardboard robot heads on Sunday night - how hilarious would that have been to see!?
In case you are not sure, Flight of the Conchords, is the show on HBO that has a cult following of epic proportions. When they were here last year, the show at the Orpheum sold out in minutes and there was not a ticket to be found. This time around they played at the Northrop which holds over 4000, but even still Northrop Auditorium tickets for this show were a very difficult find. The show was completely sold out!

If anyone went I would love to hear a review of the show!

How bad do I want to go to the Killers?!

Real bad.
Really really bad.
I suppose I could go if I wanted to sit in section 6 row 35, but I'm just too spoiled when it comes to concerts to do that! I know, quit complaining or be quiet. But seriously, how did this show get so sold out?!
Northrop Auditorium tickets for this show are just about gone.

I keep hearing the new Killers songs from their new album and I really like what I hear. I've been meaning to pick up a copy, but life has been too busy to update my blog on a regular basis, let alone stop by Electric Fetus. That is kind of sad because I live only a few minutes away!

Minneapolis music fans will have a lot of concert decision on Monday the 19th though. In addition to the Killers, Lil Wayne will be playing at the Target Center and AC/DC will be playing at the Xcel. Target Center tickets for Lil Wayne are still available, however, if you are looking for Xcel Energy Center tickets for AC/DC good luck! That show is super sold out!

I hope I see you at the Killers!
