Graduations in full swing at the Northrop!

For the first time ever last week I went to the Northrop Auditorium! It was not for a concert so there were no Northrop Auditorium tickets needed for this event. I was there for the University of Minnesota's Nursing School graduation. The ceremony was really nice, it was nice to experience an college graduation seeing as I chose not to attend my own! The School of Nursing only had about 160 graduates whereas the College of Liberal Arts that I graduated from usually has about double or triple that.

The speaker that they had was really cool. She was a retired nurse for the army and had her own foundation that she tuns in her retirement. She was a southern woman that simply told it to you how it was, which I admire. There was no sugar coating of our economic times, she simply told the graduates that they had to get out there and make the best of it. I thought the speech was fantastic!

There are a lot of events that take place at the Northrop Auditorium that are not concerts that you will need Northrop auditorium tickets for. For example, there will be a Holistic Health & Healing Summer Institute seminar June 15th thru 19th that you will need admission tickets for.

Other than that it is a slow summer for Northrop. The person sitting next to me at the graduation mentioned that the Northrop Auditorium will be closed for renovations next year, something I had not heard before. I am going to go and Google News search that soon to get some more information!

see you around campus!

Did anyone go to Flight of the Conchords?

I just read the review of Flight of the Conchords show at the Northrop and I kind of wish that I would have went! I have only seen a few of the shows and they are obviously very funny, but I read that they came out in cardboard robot heads on Sunday night - how hilarious would that have been to see!?
In case you are not sure, Flight of the Conchords, is the show on HBO that has a cult following of epic proportions. When they were here last year, the show at the Orpheum sold out in minutes and there was not a ticket to be found. This time around they played at the Northrop which holds over 4000, but even still Northrop Auditorium tickets for this show were a very difficult find. The show was completely sold out!

If anyone went I would love to hear a review of the show!
